Video Conversations on AI

Third Frontier is a lab focused on understanding AI-human interaction through research and analysis of on-ground insights, real-world implementation of AI and adoption patterns across personal and professional use.

We do this through multiple formats: long-form essays, research papers (like the recently published Behind India’s ChatGPT Conversations), active engagement with LinkedIn News India with an audience of 8M+ readers where we share our findings and Third Frontier Lab Notes with 3,000 highly engaged readers online.

The video conversation series is an extension of this project.

What This Series Is

This is not an interview series or a podcast. This is a living thesis/document.

I’m Kalyani Khona, an independent AI researcher who sits at an unusual intersection: behavioral research on LLM users, active investing in AI companies, and 11+ years building consumer products. I use these conversations to test hypotheses in public and connect patterns that emerge when you’re tracking user behavior, VC’s assumptions and product development simultaneously. I am also LinkedIn’s top AI expert to follow which gives my research a great distribution network.

Each conversation builds on the last, creating a knowledge graph that explores the unresolved questions and structural gaps in AI. I’m focused on exhausting topics until we hit structural truth, nothing surface level.

When Anagh Prasad (VP, Accel) said “every AI company is an evals company,” I spent the next few conversations testing that hypothesis. When Shashank (who runs an Evals Company) validated what Anagh predicted, I saw the pattern nobody else is connecting because we are in the early days..

This series is my way of closing the gap between what people think AI is and what’s actually happening beneath the surface.

How These Conversations Work

I add value through research. Every guest walks away having learned something new.

Most interviewers ask “Is SEO dead?” and move on. I ask “Is SEO dead?” then “But what about the two-tier user problem between free and paid ChatGPT?” then “And attribution is broken, so isn’t this just branding, not marketing?”

These aren’t interviews. They’re collaborative thinking sessions.
